Did you Know? By Kristin Johnston,Waukesha County Realtor,Buyer's Agent!

Here is something interesting I just learned recently....

Exercisers, when it comes to rejuvenating your weary body after a workout, pickle brine is 37% better at preventing painful muscle spasms than water.  What's the dill?  (ha ha)  Pickle brine contains electrolytes and vinegar, which prevent hydration--- a common cause of muscle cramps.  If that advice is hard to swallow, consider Pickle Juice Sport, packed with more than 10 times the amount of electrolytes as typical sports drinks--and zero calories!  Check out picklepower.com, $8/six 8-ounce bottles.

I wonder if olive brine will do the same - it tastes so much better.  Well, I went and checked the labels - no vinegar in the olive jar.  Rats.

Good tip, though!

Yet another fantastic tip!  When I was a child running around Milwaukee on a hot summer day, I used to buy a big pickle in a plastic wrap.  The first thing I always did was drink the juice!  Go figure.  I don't recall eating the pickle.

Kristin, to add to your post, during the Civil War after battles many times women and young girls would hand out pickle chips to the troops. In fact many re-enacting groups still carry out the practice at re-enactments....

I'm going to have to have a lot of Quarter Pounders to build up my electrolytes this way Kristin.  My old deli pickle barrel would come in handy about now.

That's interesting, Kristin. I love pickle juice (and olives in brine). Wonder what that says about us; are we missing something in our systems? Or are we just so sweet that we need pickle brine to balance us out? :)
