I need $5 dollars and just 5 minutes of your time – ok?

As you may know I’m growing my first ever scrap of facial hair in support of Movember.  Not familiar with Movember?  I like to think of it as the Pink Ribbon campaign for Men’s Cancer.

Here’s NHL tough guy George Parros shaving his legendary Mo and starting new for the cause.

We have a Team and we have a Goal:

Raise $500 before Friday.

To reach that goal we’re just looking for $5 from 100 people.  you can always donate more or less and really – anything helps.  Can’t donate?  How about helping to spread the word or join our Team?

19 years ago this month I watched my Father lose a lengthy battle to Cancer.  I also lost my Grandfather to Cancer and quite a few others in the family tree. Cancers runs deep in my family. Not too long ago a friend of mine, Joe Ferrara lost his battle to Cancer.  As dark as it might be to say, chances are that Cancer will probably knock on my door someday as well.  maybe I’ll just move and not tell it – LOL!

I’m documenting my lame growth along the way.

Everyday I’m amazed at how itchy this darn thing is.  Every day I automatically reach for that razor.  Yet everyday I am reminded that no matter how ugly, how scratchy, how silly I may look or feel, living with Cancer is far worse.

Mine is pretty itchy, too.  I keep wanting to trim it...  But I am going to let it grow out for the whole month.  We'll see how it goes.
