Loudoun County and Fairfax County, two of the richest counties in country, are located in Northern Virginia, reports Newsweek magazine, 11/10/10. 

Loudoun County, Virginia tops the list with a median household income of over $114,204, with 17% of households making over $200,000. Fairfax County, Virginia comes in 2nd with a median income of $102,499 and over 50% of the households making in the 6 figures.dollar sign

The remainder of the list of Richest Counties in America include 5 others in the Washington D.C. Metro area: Howard County, Arlington County, Montgomery County, Calvert County and Charles County.

If you are considering a relocation, this is important information.  Job security (and growth) will be higher in this area than in others, both counties have excellent (and nationally ranked) school systems, the counties themselves will be on firmer financial footing than many other parts of the country, and finally the impact of the recession, while DEFINITELY felt in our area will be reduced--Loudoun County actually has the lowest unemployment rate on the list.

Holly, it looks like the top three have not changed since last year. I enjoy telling prospective buyers these statistics about Howard County, MD. These are compelling reasons to select these great Counties.
