A Home Stagers Quickie Tips~Touch-Ups

"Touch-Ups"

If you are living in your home while selling it, you may want to touch up your furniture.  If you have pets, or kids, there are probably scratches and nicks that may need some TLC.  Some furniture will polish out nicely while others should be taken to a storage unit or donated to a charity.

However, don't toss it out just yet!  If you have some beautiful pieces with a scratchs try to salvage it first.  You can try a furniture touch-up pen, or  Howard's Restor-a-Finish.  I've heard coffee grounds fill in the color nicely...whatever works!

When selling, you want everything to looks fresh and new, even your furniture.  Don't think for a minute buyers are not looking at your furniture.  Even though they should be focusing on your home, many will get caught up in how the house is furnished..."the total package."

Great tip!

Alot of times the focus is on the real estate, but the seller's furniture is staging too, I suppose.

Great advice Cindy.  If you're selling your home and furnishings and walls show distress the prospective buyers will assume that more may be wrong with the home.  If, everything is maintained, then they will assume that all is well and be much more inclined to look at the home more favorably.

Cindy, I used to assemble furniture a life time ago and those pens came in handy even for new furniture. Besides the pens there are also crayons that do a good job and will even fill in some of the deeper scratches.

Great idea -- never heard of using coffee grounds, but they do contain dark coloring!

Cindy- I've loved your Quickie Tips and have bookmarked this to refer to.  I think it helps that you not provide the quickie tip but also suggests products or procedures to help with the fix.

Cindy -- I love Howard's Restor A Finish and always recommend it to my clients.  It works great not only on furniture but also on worn wood cabinets, baseboards, old flooring, etc.  It's like a miracle product!
