CHARLOTTE, NC:   So now that I have scared people into thinking that they  do not want to move to Charlotte, let me explain.  The inch worm attack of 2007 was handled by the city to the great relief of most of us; however, we are ever vigilent that it not happen again.  To that effect, the spraying did not kill every last one of the little buggers.  Like roaches after a nuclear attack they lurk in the shadows waiting for us to let our guard down.  So.......the solution of choice for Charlotte is............

This came straight off their website:

Tanglefoot Pest Barrier
For fruit trees, shade trees, vines and more! Tanglefoot Pest Barrier is effective against crawling insects who must reach the tops of trees in order to feed, mate, or deposit eggs. Such insects include cankerworms, gypsy moth, army and tent caterpillars, ants, pecan weevils, tussock moths and climbing cutworms.

Provides the perfect solution to protecting your valuable trees and reducing future pest populations. As the insects climb up over the sticky material, they become trapped without escape.

Best of all, the action is strictly mechanical -- no pesticides or harmful chemicals are involved.

There are companies and neighborhood groups that will do this for you but it is easy to apply, cheap to put together and pretty darn effective if you do your trees and the trees of the guy next door who doesn't and the old lady next to him who can't.

Our tree canopy in Charlotte is one of our greatest treasures and we will do what we have to protect it!
