Time to Pack it in, Head Home in Gettysburg Pa

Home OfficeThe leaves have fallen off the trees, and usually that means that real estate activity in the Adams County Gettysburg Pa area will be falling off as well. This time year real estate activity drops off and a lot of agents, brokers, and the like head in and sit by the fire and get a jump on plans for the new year to come.

Home OfficeOffices don't close down mind you but many slow to a point that many agents in the Gettysburg Adams County Pa areaswitch operations to a home office. Better to sit by a cozy fire and sip tea than curl up to the office building heater with some lukewarm coffee. I will be moving a major part of my office to the home office in anticipation of working from home quite a bit more in the near future. Those that work from home know that it can be a challenge to stay focused and productive when working from a home office. I have put together some tips to help those that may making the change to help with continued productivity while working from a home office.

Place your home office in a sensible location. The living room is not the place for a home office. Ideally you want a separate room with a door to close out family world while working, and close out the business world on the other side as well. Be sure and keep technology hook ups in mind when thinking about where your home office will be.

Stay off Twitter, Facebook, unless you are building a new business page or on their for business it is way too easy to get caught up in looking up old high school buddies ( man he got fat) etc. Stay focused on the task at hand.

Keep your home office in the same condition as you would a business place office. Clean, neat and up to date with filing etc. If you let it get messy at the home office, you are far more likely to let it go and not go in there.

Separate work time from family time and things to do around the house time. It is just so easy to get distracted with a home office. You get up to get a cup of coffee and on your way you notice the kids room needs picked up, let it go. There will be time for those domestic chores later.

A final thought, if you are going to have a web conference meeting, be sure and remember to change out of your pj's BEFORE the meeting. I have seen it, and while amusing, it is not the best way to give yourself that professional looking edge.

If you are looking to buy or sell a home in the Gettysburg Adams County Pa area, be sure to contact GettysburgGerry for assistance. He is fluent in working from a home office, or downtown office building. Either way, you get the same professional, friendly service.

I work from home for Robin doing the Web stuff and listings/sales in my community.  Remembering to get out of pj's and robe is a biggy!  I had a habit of getting up, taking the dogs out, feeding them and hoping on the "puter".  I'd get all envolved and than I'd hear a car and some neighbor or the community Office sent someone down to my driveway to see what was available for resale!!

A couple of embarrassing such encounters now have me at least with jeans and sweatshirt on, washed faced and brushed teeth and hair!

Which is your home office -- the first or second picture.  Mine's a total mess and I dream of the second pic.

Gerry...I know my limitations and working daily from home is one of them...I need a place 'to go' even if it's just for an hour or two...Thankfully, my office is only about 5-10 minutes away depending on traffic...Besides that, I have to go out for Turkey Hill coffee anyway...Enjoy the day.

Great job on the advice. Helpful stuff. I really would like to hear more about the teleconference with one guy in pjs. Sounds like a fun story.
