Yesterday I dropped by the Amador farmers market that is held in Milo Sharkey Park on Main Street in Plymouth
from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. This market is held each Thursday afternoon for the month of August and the first two weeks of September.
These markets are run as a fund raising event for the Plymouth Elementary School.
With wine tasting ($5.00 donation) of many of the great local Amador County wines, the majority of which are made just up the road in the Shenandoah Valley, this is one of the more relaxing farmers markets you can find anywhere. For parents, the playground just feet from the area that the market is held can keep the little ones happy and busy while you shop for great local produce and other wonderful things. Things like gift and greeting cards produced by some enterprising and talented young photographers, warmhearted t-shirts and caps, hand made jewelry, and therapeutic scented oils. A few local charities were present to get the word out, and the market even had live music. If there was anything that you needed and could not find at the Farmers Market the Amador Vintage Market is right next-door and they have a fabulous deli section. If you find that you need a bit more in the way of food, Taste is just across the street, and has been winning huge accolades from all of the local, and not so local restaurant critics.

The people here show what a warm and welcoming area Amador County really is. Even though this year’s season only offers one more visit to the Plymouth Farmers’ Market, keep this on your calendar for next year! This is a great way to get to know new friends, support local farmers, and live a healthy lifestyle.
Don’t forget we also have the Sutter Creek Farmers Market Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. In the parking lot on Eureka Street, the Wednesday Farmers’ Market in Pine Grove from 3:00 pm. to 6:00 pm. in the Community Park, and the Monday Farmers’ Market in Ione from 3:00 pm. to 6:30 pm. at the West end of Main St.
