In real estate these days, overhearing those in our offices, or in the economy in general, there can be some glum attitudes out there certain days. The fact is life is this perpetual roller coaster ride and you have to ride that car through the deep scary valleys as well as those peaks of exhilaration. You want to keep a Joe Cool on your face (or Joanie Cool). Here are
Five Tips For Keeping Your Joe Cool Face On
-
Know Who You Are - this one takes work in understanding your strengths, weaknesses, values, interests, passions, dreams, goals and most of all where you want to go. Look in the mirror in the morning, meditate, journal, ask OTHERS about yourself, but in writing, have it down who you are. Why? Cause then when people challenge you to be something you are not, you will know it is THEM with the problem, not you. You are happy with you.
-
Smile Despite The World's Situation Or Your Own Problems - a good attitude no matter what is GREAT inner strength and makes you a winner in life.
-
Recognize Negativity And Steer Clear Of It - we all get bashed around by life and other people for "periods" of time, but unless they live with you which is a longer term problem to work on, steer clear of negative people and situations that make you feel ill inside.
-
Be Direct With Your Communication And Your Problem Solving - don't let an issue fester or procrastinate with getting a priority problem solved. Nip it in the bud.
-
Finally, Practice Goodness In The World And Help People - This idea will RETURN helping to you. We can use all the help we can get, and this is the way you get it, by helping OTHERS.

Great simple reminders for all of us, Gary. I especially like and practice number 2 & 3. :)
Things for all of us to remember, Gary! Love the picture!
Picture reminds me of two and half men - love it. I also appreciate the message and specially #5!
Shakespeare said it best, "To thine own self be true." The Bard knew what he was talking about....
All great rules to observe and it starts with yourself. Love the photo and great title too.
As always Gary, a very positive message. In this market it is good advise, thanks.
Gary: Hard to do sometimes but critical to keep sane in a sometimes insane world. Love the little boy picture!
Wise words to live by Gary. Thanks for the positive reinforcement. Gotta tell you though, it's the picture that earned my comment. Priceless.
Hi Gary!

Love your post! It reminded me of what a speaker said this morning in a room full of Realtors and lenders. He said that as he walked in today, he was thinking about a person we all know who is very successful and always makes us feel good. I was racking my brain trying to think of which person in the room fit that bill (there are several). Then he said....the parking attendant! The guy is always upbeat, friendly and actually appears to enjoy his job! Attitude is everything!
Gary, I love these suggestions. And, I finally know whom I am. It took years of "trying on" different personas, but they were all ethical and sound, but now I really have me down.
And the others are great advice. Thanks.
hey Gary, thanks for making my day---more than once! I appreciate your timely notes ;-)
as for Joe Cool... this is the main mantra: Smile Despite The World's Situation Or Your Own Problems... there have been a few of occasions when I felt like it was CHECKMATE and 'to whom do I surrender' as I walked out the door...but by the time I got to my car, made the choice to not take that thought with me out into the day. It's almost like closing a curtain on your window, and keeping out the Light---the brightness of every day that shines in spite of it all---so Keep on those SUNglasses!
#3 - I am finding that harder to do lately - so many down people, I hate to turn my back and walk away. And I don't - I spend a moment listening, then ask, so what are you going to do about it? Then I walk away. It is so easy to be pulled down!
P.S. That model of yours should be getting extra pay for that pic - he is the perfect Joe Cool.
Very good advice. We only have control over ourselves, and we can "influence" those around us with good vibes!
