On a recent post of mine it was suggested that I explain a little about the area in which I work! Some of Limerick's redeeming qualities and distinguishing characteristics.
First of all, Limerick is a rather rural suburb of Philadelphia, about 25 miles northwest. It is located in Montgomery County, one of the most populous and prosperous counties outside Pennsylvania's 2 largest cities---Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Limerick was comprised of large contiguous farms, some tracing their origins back to William Penn himself, for whom Pennsylvania was named. In fact, all of Pennsylvania was part of Penn's Grant bestowed upon the English Quaker by the British Monarchy. It was William Penn who 'founded' Pennsylvania. Oddly enough, William was not the first governor of the state---his wife Hannah Callowhill Penn was!
Limerick, Pa, has been the destination of many of the retreating urban and suburban dwellers over the last 20 or so years. In fact, there are few of those contiguous farms left that haven't been developed. What has allowed for this easy migration, of course, was the extension of the route 422 bypass from King of Prussia to Douglassville. One living in Limerick can be at Philadelphia International Airport in about 45 minutes. King of Prussia, a nearby shopping and employment mecca is 15 minutes away.
Physically located along the Schuylkill River, Limerick, Pennsylvania is home for one of Peco Energies nuclear power plants. Plenty of open spaces adorn the landscape, golf courses are in abundance, and school facilities and churches are elaborately set into the countryside. By the end of this decade, Limerick will be the home for one of the largest upscale factory outlet malls in the world. Well planned communities continue to crop up and proliferate.
When visiting Limerick, be sure to take advantage of the many fine dining opportunities both local and nearby!
