Arlington, Va is getting a Trader Joe's

Real Estate Agent with Century 21 New Millennium

Woohoo! The Arlington county board just approved the addition of a Trader Joes. It will take up the first floor of Clarendon Center located at 3030 Wilson Blvd. For those that live around the neighborhood this is awesome. It will be over 10,000 square feet. I love Trader Joes and will often travel to Falls Church to shop there. Not sure how Whole Foods feels about this competitor being in the 'hood but I think they compliment each other. Plus...for the consumer competition is a good thing.

Here's a quote from our Board Chairman:

“Bringing grocery stores into our urban villages, where they can help achieve our goal of creating walkable, transit-oriented communities, is a high priority for the County,” said Board Chairman Jay Fisette. “Trader Joe’s will be a welcome addition to Clarendon’s thriving mix of restaurants, shops, services.

The Clarendon neighborhood, full of mixed residential and commercial developments, gets better all the time.

Sometimes the addition of a grocery outlet can be a very good thing. Right not the employees at the major chains are thinking of going on strike soon...and it is the holiday season. Fortunately Whole Foods, or Puget Consumer Co-op and Trader Joes are not part of the "big" grocery system and we will still eat on Thanksgiving.
