A couple of weeks ago we staged this beautiful home in Atlanta for one of our newest REALTOR Partners.

As you can see, the home is lovely. However, some of the rooms lacked definition as to their purpose. Case in point, this first before picture (see below). One of the very first questions I asked the agent when I first saw this home was how the homeowner used this room. If I, as a professional home stager, was asking, you can be assured that buyers, when viewing the photos online were wondering the same thing.

One of the greatest benefits in having your home professionally staged is that not only does it make rooms more appealing, it provides definition, which is an important component when selling.

Before Home Staging - this is the room that had me guessing as to the purpose it served.

Home Staging Atlanta Office Before

Here's what we did with this room (see below): As you can see, the room now has definition and with the added furniture and accessories, makes the room more appealing.

And for those that may have noticed - yes, I removed the curtains. While I have nothing against the use of curtains in a home, in this particular case, they were actually covering up a feature, the blinds. As any professional home stager will tell you, home staging is all about showcasing the features your home has to offer. An experienced and professional stager understands and knows the difference these small changes can make when selling your home.

Kathy:  I love your posts.  The before and after photos are great.  I can see a huge impact by just taking down the drapes.  Whew.  The office looks great and it looks like there is room in the dining room for people.  Excellent work.

Kathy -- great idea to remove those orange curtains.  Now the features are highlighted, and the home has the added benefit of more light coming into the rooms.  I love the look of the office and the dining rooms -- your new clients must be thrilled with your staging!  The close up shot is beautiful, too.

Kathy - So true.  A square, empty room can be very confusing.  Defining this room as an office, by bringing in appropriate furnishings and accessories, really takes the guess work out of the equation for home buyers.  Were those drapes orange taffeta?  Oh dear.

Kathy,

A very wise choice to take down the draperies in each room. The best benefit is now being able to see more of the outside through those very large windows.  Also the draperies and sheers were more taste pacific and could have possibly turned off potential buyers.  The two rooms look elegant and very roomy now.  I'm sure your new Realtor partner was very glad that he hired such a professional home stager like you!  You really are exceptional!

You are so right Kathy.  It looks like a great home, but just didn't have the pop and warmth that your staging has brought to it.  I no longer wonder what room I am looking at.  Looks great!

You did a great job in turning a cold empty room into a show place. The curtains needed to go.

Great work Kathy - I concur with the above comments regarding the draperies!  The rooms look so much larger.  The orange colours distracted the eye from the real focal points which are those lovely windows.

Beautiful work as always Kathy.  Those curtains made quite a statement before and it was all that the eye looked at.  Great call to take them down and open the room.
