Well, tomorrow is the day!  My wife finally gets me off my butt and gets me to join her in dress up and go visit the Maryland Renaissance Festival. (http://www.rennfest.com/)

Normally, I didn't mind going every other weekend - ok, ok, it wasn't that often - but then it started getting old.  Now the fun is back.  We are going with a couple of newbies who are big into cultural stuff, like eating turkey legs, drinking mugs of ale, gawking at the Iron Maiden (no, not the torture device, the woman who dresses up with only metal and mesh), the knights, the jousting, the woman who shouldn't be wearing those push up girdles, the men who should be showing off their guts, the drinking, the steak on a stick, the plays, the hypnotist (wish my wife would become a subject).

Ok - enough of the list.  I am really looking forward to it tomorrow.  I will probably eat too many sweets and drink too many bee stings (I think I need a refresher course on the uses of to, too, and two).

I can't forget Johnny Fox - Sword Swallower Extraordinaire.  I have seen him probably every year for the past 10 years, but really enjoy his shtick (so to speak).

If you can make, come join us!

Matthew, have fun.  I've never been to one of these festivals, though I saw Medieval Times once many many years ago. I had a client a few years back who is very involved in these types of festivals.

We had a blast!  It was great having a couple of newbies along.  One of our guests got "volunteered" by 3 aerial acrobats - gorgeous women all.  Thankfully his 19 year old son was only jealous and not embarrased!

Well worth the trip!

My 5 year old and her grandparents are totally into the huge festival they have here in LA.  Last year her grandparents decorated her jog stroller as a chariot and she had a blast.  Sounds like I should get off the sidelines!

Hi Matthew,
I say good for your wife--getting her man out of the house and doing something fun on a weekend.  Now, I see you did have fun.  Relaxation and fun on the weekend with the family, very important.
