Johnston County is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, it has a business friendly climate and good infrastructure. Transportation for example is well taken care of with Interstates 95 and 40 and Hwy US 70 plus the new US 70 bypass in Clayton has made travel to the beach and points east a breeze and going the other way, into Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham and points west.

Novo Nordisk, Talecris Biotherapeutics and Hospira are involved in the training they need their future workers to have. To that end students can earn a pre-biology associates degree and a bio process technology associates degree.
