I've seen these all before--but not for a while. I like the Will Rogers quote the best.

I have to share these quotes with my wife.  When we first met, we had 10 dogs (7 dobbies, 1 bassett, 1 rottie, and 1 chihuahua).  Now we are down to 5 (1 dobbie, 2 bassetts, 1 rhodesian, and 1 chihuahua).  Can you say we are dog lovers?

Maureen,

Let-em disapprove if they must.

Pictured is my last dog-buddy, CooCoo (1989-2002), half Beagle & half Malamute. She was my best friend for a little over 13 years. Daisy’sPhoto of CooCoo (1989-2002), half Beagle, half Malamute at 6yrs old, 1995 personality is very much like CooCoo’s, which is probably why I fell for the little critter as I did, and how much I appreciate the Boardmans letting me borrow her as they do..

Jay,

CooCoo is a sweetheart. What a combo. Did she have the malumute bushy tail?

I am so frustrated I can't post pictures for 2 days. My upload box doesn't show..

Here's my grandmother's dog quote:

"Never trust a dog while its got a tooth in its head."

Obviously I did not come from a big pet family.  Still never got over never having a dog as a child. : (

High-Hat Pooch Joke

Customer: "Does this dog have a good pedigree?"

Shop Owner: "Has he? Say, if that dog could talk, he wouldn't speak to either of us."

CooCoo, the “Beagamute” was in appearance a very LARGE Beagle (including her tail), with relatively speaking, small ears. Where Daisy, a large Beagle, stands just under 17” at the withers (shoulders) and weighs about 35 lbs (as opposed to the small Beagle’s 13” & 25 lbs), CooCoo stood about 25” and weighed about 55 lbs. She had the fur of a Malamute, and spent most of her 1st 8 years living outside, we’re talking Minnesota here folks, it could be -25º and windy, and she’d insist on going outside to sleep curled in a ball, in a snow bank, ignoring the insulated dog-house I built for her. As she aged, she was not so insistent, and soon could be found on her dog-bed on the floor next to me every night.

She died just 5 days after her 13th birthday. I haven’t the band-width (how’s that for hip talk from a codger?) to get myself another dog, and there can never be another CooCoo, but my friends let me have Daisy, even for extended periods, (as I hunt ‘n peck this comment Daisy is keeping me company) with some frequency—and that wonderful little critter helps fill that otherwise empty hound-spot in this old heart!

Maureen: Buddy has those wonderfully expressive Beagle eyes.

Jay,

Our Bella is part Husky.

We have had her since March, but she loves it cool too. Of course She can't stay outside in the summer heat for too long.

Anyway. I know how you feel about not wanting another dog.

Dessie my first dog lived until 16. My first husband, Chuck, who passed away young from cancer, and I got her when she was a pup. We were I were crazy in love with her. It was one of the hardest days of my life when we lost her.

I said I could never go through that again. But My Roger has been asking about getting a dog. He never was allowed to have on as a child. He would bring home strays and not be avowed to keep them.

I was entertaining the thought of a rescue dog, but I was  still afraid. Then Bella's photo and story came in our email. She needed a home. She looked so much like my Dessie, and Roger and I just knew this was meant to be.

I took a chance on loving a dog again, and our lives have been so enriched by her. Of course I do think of the future and pray she live a lives a long, healthy life.

So I encourage you to take a chance on Puppy Love again.... I promise you won't regret it!

I'm 75 years old and live alone, I don't believe starting over with a pup would be fair to the pup--and I have a dog to love--Daisy.

Now I know how to generate comments--write a canine-oriented post! Fun to write & fun to comment on!

JaneAnne: The larger critter looks down at the smaller as if to say; "What are you doing in my picture?" And the smaller appears to reply: "Its all about me!" Great dog-people you have there!

This post is timely.  My dog got out of our yard today with the big storm that came through.  We found her but I was really scared.

Thanks for the dog humor.  I'm glad I got my Maggie back

Thank God you got her back.

Bella got out a couple of weeks  after we got her. What an awful night. I was sooo scared.

We did not get her till the next morning. She had wandered into a yard about 3/4 mile from our home. They kept her on the screened porch with their other dogs.

We were up till 3 am putting posters all over town. Next morning  their little girl saw Bella's picture on the way to school with her Dad. She said "There's BEAR".. .

that what she had named her. (She looks kind of teddy bear like, right?)

Anyway, What a nice family took her in, thank God!

Ginger,

I have been wondering who owns the beautiful dog pictured at the left of the blogs. Apparently, it is your dog, Bella. She is the spitting image of our dog, Bear. We got Bear in March 2006 at the shelter here in Denver. Everyone we talk to has a different idea of what mix he comes from. He is about 70 pounds, coloring and fur length just like your Bella. But, both he and his sister (she was adopted the same day we got Bear) have stubby tails like a Rottweiler. We never thought Husky, but now I wonder.

I would post a pic if I could figure out how!
