"The Lost Coast" in Northern California

"The Lost Coast" is a very beautiful untouched 80 mile stretch of coast line south of "Ferndale California" only minutes from Eureka California.

This beautiful photo above was taken around July of 2010 this year, and I have had the privlage to drive don't "The Lost Coast" several times in my life.

If you ever get the chance to visit "The Lost Coast" in northern California it will be a memory in your mind that will be remembered forever. "The Lost Coast" is a very impressive area that I would suggest everyone viewing for themselves.

Hello Dorie and thanks for stopping by and I have taken many photographs & Video of the lost coast and it is like going back in time, there are no homes, buildings or anything else for that matter except cows and beaches. The other strange thing about the lost coast just south of "Ferndale" is there's no people, no cars! With a place as beautiful as "The Lost  Coast" you would think more people would visit the area, take it in and relax.

Great shot Bob, nothing like the picture of California that we have in our mind.  It shows that beauty surrounds us, we just have to stop and see it.

Hi VB, Sad to say that although I have lived in many places, I have yet to visit California (except the airport). I know there are just some beautiful places to see there as your picture shows. One of these days..Thanks for sharing this pic!

Robert - It is amazing how something so rugged and barren looking could posess so much beauty ..... while Barrie has been to California I never have ..... perhaps one of these days

Robert,

What an extraordinary opportunity to see something like that! It almost looks surreal and perhaps, it should be in the Seven Wonders of the World category, or 1,000 places to see before you die.

I can't believe something like this exists in here the United States of America!

Thank you!

Robert...have driven from Washington down the 101 [name?] to San Fran.  Had the opportunity to move East to Highway 5,but Sal hugged the coast.  I, for one, was so glad the rental car had that right-hand side ceiling handle [fabric] had to pry me fingers loose at the end of each travel period.  The mountains were on our left the entire trip--which was the driver's side--all I had was the fun of looking out into nothingness most of the time.  I do know that the Western coastline is beautiful. but, for me, beautiful pictures like yours do a masterful job of presenting the beauty & wonder minus the 'sick-to-stomach-sensations of the drive.

Hello Al & Peggy and if you ever get the chance take.

And Kristin this area is breath-taking and beyond words.

Hello Cindy and if you ever get the chance to get down to California, take your time and drive Hwy 1 ...

And Ellen there have been some movies shot in this area and "The Majestic" with Jim Carey was filmed in Ferndale Cal.

Hello Kathy and California is one of VB's favorite states for beauty.

And Patricia this would be one of those places.

Hello David and you are a "Lucky" person to have been able to drive this coast line ...

And Barb & Sal I have heard the words of sickness from members of my family from driving Hwy one, and that's why it's best to take extra time driving it.

The name is fitting. There is a sense of lost in the photo. Very pretty... kind of sad.

Stunning photo of my precious Cali :) It is Gorgeous!

I heard from Humboldt County residents that the area is cursed....because of ship-wrecks. Have you heard that?
