Every time we go shopping at the Crossroads of the World (my name for WalMart : because we always meet someone we know there) in New Port Richey, I find out as soon as we leave the parking lot that we forgot something.
mind sweeper thing
So, I have this theory that WalMart has purchased those little red light mind sweeper
things that Will Smith used on Tommy Lee Jones (and Tommy Lee Jones used on everybody) in Men in Black.  I swear when you walk through the entrance of a WalMart, you're mind is wiped clean of all the things you went there for.

I've been trying  to keep my eye on those sneaky greeters to see if they are aiming anything at me while they are saying welcome.  Or could it be in that giant rush of air that wrecks your hairdo as you enter? What's up with that anyway; is it supposed to make you run right over to buy a ton of hairspray? Too late!

And, speaking of Men in Black, have you seen some of the strange looking beings  there in WalMart?  And, we thought the government was hiding them in New Mexico.

Plus have you ever been in a WalMart and NOT gotten run over or almost knocked down by someone wearing a WalMart badge? I think it's part of their training manual:

alienPage 8003; paragraph 98,101 says: you must score at least 10 customer bumps, step-ons, run downs per day or you will be sent back to your planet.

Seriously, last trip, not only did they wipe my mind clear but they must have taken my shopping list too; it wasn't in my bag. :)

I wish I had one of those red light things for some of the bankers I have had to deal with lately...I am sure if we could give them a blink maybe we could stop the insanity...lol

LOL, Jeffrey I agree completely. I have a closing tomorrow that I would have loved to use one of those things on the lenders!

This post just cracked me up because Walmart here in my area attracts so many "wonderfully dressed" people - just seeing some of them erases my memory of what I was supposed to be buying. Funny.

Carla - I agree. Sometimes I would like my memory erased from what I'm seeing!

Loved the post - what a hoot!  I wish my mind could be wiped clean of some of the "wonderfully dressed" people Carla mentioned above...  Is it a hang out for the "wonderfully dressed"?

Toni and Craig,  Too funny and soooo true!  I must go to the same Walmart that you do!  Even though I always carry a list into Walmart, when I get home and am putting the groceries away, it never fails, I always add an item to the new Walmart list to pick up next time.

I'm late to the party, but this caught my eye . . . and gave me a chuckle.

Several winters ago, we had one of those "don't go out if you don't have to" days.  After work, I decided that I'd run over to Wal-Mart and have the place to myself with the weather being so terrible and all.  Ha!  I had more trouble finding parking that night than at any other time.  Half the city had the same thought.  :)

I don't think there is a good time to go there, Karen, unless it's about 2am :) Ours is always jammed.

Toni,

Good post. Maybe I'll see you there, next time I stray over the PR/NPR bridge.
