What’s Your Game Plan for 2011?  Are you gearing up for next year?  As we approach year end you should be thinking about your business plans for the next 12 months. Are you positioned to carry yourself into the “new normal” of real estate”?

As 2010 winds to a close, it is time to strategize your business plan for 2011, this is also a great time to evaluate what has worked for you this year and what changes are needed for next year. If you want to stay on top of your profession you need to adopt positive habits and transform them into daily routines to optimize your effectiveness.

Here are some essentials for Starting Good Habits:

·        Have written goals and track your progress

·        Get up early at least one day per week…  go into the office and work on business planning… you’ll be amazed how much you can get done in a couple of hours of uninterrupted time.

·        Check in with your clients often and make sure their needs are met… Never give the impression you are too busy for them or for future referrals

·        Under-Promise and Over-Deliver… Always be well prepared to achieve your clients objectives

·        Follow through on the details… and keep your clients informed

·        Stay organized and focused so you will know what you can… and can’t deliver… Don’t create false expectations

·        Be consistent… it’s OK to take a day off here and there but taking more than a few days off is enough to break an established habit

·        Discipline yourself to create time for yourself and your family…Keep your work life and your family life well balanced

·        Always be on time… (One of my pet peeves)…nothing is more unprofessional than making someone wait on you…it shows them you don’t value their time.

·        Take all your listings at a price which will get them sold… (don’t take them high and them beg for reductions later)

·        Don’t be afraid to seek support… get a mentor, connect with role models… and be a mentor to others

·        Give any new habit 30 days to work into your routine

·        Start Slow… If you start too big, you’re more likely to give up early… Small steps lead to lasting changes!
