ARE YOU MOVING PEOPLE INTO THE REFERRAL ZONE?

ITS THE PERFECT TIME OF THE YEAR TO MOVE YOUR CONTACTS INTO THE REFERRAL ZONE

The majority of us are looking forward to the get togethers and social events that the holidays bring.  I heard an interesting chat on communication and if you put a number on people from zero to 10 in your relationship, zero being a total stranger that you would avoid speaking to, and 10 being someone you see daily and speak to several times a day; then attaching the appropriate number to EVERYONE that you meet.

Its help me to realize that the referral zone lies between 7-10.  So if I meet you at a party and I know you but I rarely speak with you other than annual occassions you are probably a 3-4, I have to find a way to dial up my communications skills and move you into my referral zone.

This concept was like watching me turn up the volume on my i-Tunes!  I loved it, now when I look at people I really put a number on their foreheads and concentrate on how I can put them into the 7-10 category.

Most of it is LISTENING, and asking QUESTIONS about THEM!  How easy is that?  I am excited to see what can be accomplished this year by visualizing this daily and focusing on increasing each persons number.  Clearly it will be more difficult to take a total stranger to a 10, so I am starting with the 6's and working my way down.

Good News is I want everyone to be a 10!  What do you think?  I hope this helps everyone in the industry build better relationships and move people up the scale.

Nicely done Colleen.  It definitely takes a double effort.... 1.  Keeping the rules in mind, and 2.  Moving them toward the referral zone.

I don't want everybody I know to be a ten, I'd never have time to sleep! lol

Great blog.  I work to help people understand this everyday.  I think you will really love HappyGrasshopper.com - it does exactly this - moves people from a 4 to a 7.  I haven't been able to explain it as clearly myself - would you be interested in maybe doing a guest blog?  Thanks for the wonderful explanation.

How interesting.  Have you been using your referral zone technique for a while, or is it something new?

Colleen, plus people as you DEVELOP a relationship can of course move from a 3 to a 7, so don't keep them in that lower box if you encounter them some more.

Colleen, I love this idea and if you have not read Go-Givers Sell More I think you will find it is in line with this type of thinking.

Really interesting post Colleen.  Thanks for the inspiration. I love to stretch my mind. Now I need to wrap my head around the idea of a referral zone. Congrats on the well deserved feature.

Keeping in touch with other agents is equally important as keeping in touch with clients.  Agents are clients too, just as surely as customers are.
