One of the most exquisite attractions about Colorado Springs is Garden of the Gods. To get to this spectacular place, just take exit (146) west from I-25 South to 30th Street, then take a left and travel no more than 2 miles before you get there.
There is no way you can miss the magnificence of enormous vertical rocks as you embark on the wonderment about Garden of the Gods. Not to mention the scenic possibilities are endless as Cheyenne Mountain and Pikes Peak can be seen from practically every view from this breathtaking place.
John Fielder, photographer and author of Best of Colorado, wrote, “I’ve never seen anything quite like the park’s vertical sandstone spires anywhere outside of Colorado. Southern Utah certainly contains an infinite number of unique sandstone formations, but none quite like these…Scrub oak, pine, and fir trees surround the spires, while 14,110-foot Pikes Peak towers above the whole scene.”
Fortunately, Garden of the Gods is located only a few minutes from my office. Whenever it feels like the walls are caving in around me, I simply dash down to Garden of the Gods to regain a clearer perspective about life. This place is very peaceful, very beautiful and it’s obvious how the combination of nature and history have made this place a reservoir of tranquility.
There’s plenty to do at the Garden of Gods besides contemplative thinking. Hiking, biking, photography, horseback riding, and shopping at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post for American Indian art is some experiences to look forward to doing.
If you’re ever visiting Colorado Springs or plan to move to this area, be sure to spend time at one of the most wonderful places in the world.
