Sightings on Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh, NC

One of the things I love about driving down Lake Wheeler Road are the many different animals. I always see the usual cows and horses, and I was pretty excited when I saw some goats. However, when I saw this

I was over the moon excited! Is that a donkey? I think it is! I tried to take a picture of it with my super-dope Canon T1i, but it was too far away for me to get a good shot. So, what do you do? You go on eBay and find a good, used telephoto lens. Once I got that incredibly heavy lens on the camera body, I pulled over on the side of the road, and I took this picture from my car. Yay!

Oh, and just so people know, this is NOT what I would call a rural area, although it's heading in that direction.  This donkey sighting is less than 10 miles from downtown Raleigh.

Hi Dawn, just moseyed over to see what you were up to!  Love this post!  If you want head west on Penny towards HS road and just after Hunters Meadow there's a farmer on the left that houses not one but TWO donkeys!  Along w/sheep, chickens and a ROOSTER.  Makes me smile in the morning on my walks listening to these "nature sounds" and I'm only minutes from Cary, Crossroads, and downtown Raleigh!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by, Pamela!  That's what I love so much about our area.  We have so many great things going on, but at the same time, it's easy to find some peace and quiet.  I'll have to take that drive down Penny Road and check out that farm!
