DOING SOMETHING NICE HAS ITS REWARDS

As I was shopping earlier today, I saw a couple struggling to get a piece of furniture into their vehicle that was not going to fit.  So I asked them if they lived close by and they said yes.  I offered to put the piece of furniture in my SUV and take it to their house for them.  (They lived about 8 miles away). They seemed surprised that I offered this to them since we were strangers.  I simply told them that I have been in a situation like that in the past where I bought something not realizing how big it was until I brought it out of the store and realized it was not going to fit in my car and I thought since I had some time I would do something nice for someone.  I always try to do something nice for someone every day.  They accepted my offer, not knowing if I was going to steal their piece of furniture, so they were taking a chance too, as they were desperate to attempt to get this furniture home.  I gave them my card and told them my phone number was on it and if they did not see my car behind them to call me because I did not know where they lived (did not come up on GPS, brand new development) and that means I was stuck at a light or something.  So after I followed them home and they unloaded, the Mrs. said "my sister is looking for a house in the area and she just received her pre-approval to purchase and if it is ok, I would love to recommend you to be her agent since  you were so kind to us and we were strangers."  I said that would wonderful and I would love to help your sister find her home. So it looks like I picked up a new buyer through a new friend.

You just never know where your business comes from, but sometimes as we "do the right thing" good things do come our way.  I could have just walked away but I didn't.

Nice, nice story Stella.  Kindess has its rewards, but it happened because you weren't expecting one.  Good luck with the new buyer :)

That is the Best Story I have read in awhile. It was so kind of you to do that. I believe in paying it forward. Do something nice for someone and it will come back to you tenfold. Congrats on getting a new buyer. She is lucky to have you.

I love great stories about giving back (especially when there are quantifiable benefits) to share.  Suggested as a "Feature".  Keep on giving!  I bought a flatbed trailer years ago so my clients can use it to help them move here in the Boise area.

That is the kind of thing I would do, and get my husband to do ( he's the one with the pickup truck, and I have a mid sized SUV). I'm glad that karma rewarded you with a potential client. Hope you get the sale.

Thanks Debbie.  It is nice to know you would have done the same.  I do believe in karma.

I think if more of us do something, and actually go out of way to do it, then maybe this world will become a better place. There is too much negaivity right now, and we need to turn that around and also show the good neighbor policy...like you did. It's fine to give to the foodbank or whatever is your favorite charity, but actually show someone that you care, and maybe that wiill be contagious.

Debbie - That was very well put and you are right about people not showing good neighbor policy.  There is a lot of things going on in this world right now along with many people becoming homeless due to the market issues, foreclosures, job loss, etc. and it is nice to know that people can still count on people.
