According to the Ironwood Daily Globe, western Upper Peninsula leaves are between 5-10 percent turned Fall Colordepending upon location. Peak color is expected shortly after September 15th. Peak colors move down through Michigan generally through the end of October. A suggested western UP color tour drive.

I have two favorite Fall Color Tour Routes. The first is from Manistee to Northport on M-22. This winding road traverses several hardwood ecosystems along the western ridge of northern Michigan. The route is dotted with lakes, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, and views of Lake Michigan which makes for spectacular views against the blue October sky. My second favorite Fall color Tour route is closer to home along M-59, Grand River Ave, Pontiac Trail, and includes the recreation areas of Brighton, Island Lake, Proud Lake, and Highland in southeastern Michigan.

That's pretty cool and a great resource. If I'm ever up there during the Fall, I'll check it out. Thanks..

The Fall Color Tour is one of Michigan's greatest tourist attractions. I hope you're able to make the trip.

Gary - Fall is one of my favorite times in Michigan. I especially love the Indian Summers while color touring. I spoke with my friend & associate near Elk Rapids the other day. Deann said she is shocked to be seeing quite a bit of color already. Thanks for the tour routes!

Mary, I have one Maple tree that turns early. The leaves started turning the middle of August.

I absolutely love the Ironwood area! I have family from there and it is such a beautiful area to be. Thanks for the fall color locator, it makes me wish I was back in Ironwood!
