Top 7 Things to do in San Diego for Thanksgiving

thanksgivingIt's almost Turkey Day, and here we are!  Ready for some food and to say thanks?  Here are some activities over the next week that you may want to participate in with the kids or as a way of giving to those less fortunate than yourself.

Have a great week!

1.  Mother Goose Parade - The Mother Goose Parade is a San Diego tradition which attracts more than 400,000 people.  It takes place on the Sunday before Thanksgiving - so today - in El Cajon.  This parade is considered the unofficial start of the holiday season.  Expect floats with storybook friends, a Queen, a march, bands, floats, clowns, and equestrians.  The parade begins at 10 am.

2.  Father Joe's 5K Run - Help Father Joe provide more than 1.7 million meals this year.  And when Father Joe does a 5K Run to benefit the needy, he really does it up!  Anticipate not only medals for the winners, a continental breakfast will be served for everyone along with a beer garden and blues band.

3.  Volunteer - Don't want to run but would love to volunteer?  San Diego has tons of need for volunteers over the holiday season, you can always find something here

4.  Ice Skate in Horton Plaza - Have fun and donate to Rady's Children all at the same time!

5.  Dinner and Skating at the Hotel Del Coronado - If you don't want to fret over stuffing the turkey and want to enjoy San Diego, our landmark Hotel Del is the one to do it at!  Sit oceanfront and enjoy an elegant buffet dinner with all the trimmings!

I LOVE that city. I was there for the NAR convention. It is convenient, clean and a has lots of great restaurants. We had a great time. I would go back in a heart beat. I hope the locals take advantage of the events.

Good gravy I missed out on all of this stuff last year when I was down with my family.  At least nobody mentioned all these things.  The ice skating sounds fun.  Horton Plaza is nice (as long as it isn't raining) so perhaps next year.  Cheers!

The rain is suppose to continue today (although there are some clearing skies out now).  That won't be good for the parade.
