I think I will switch to verizon...ATT has spotty coverage in our area...Verizon is better...love the iphone, no other phone even interets me...
Rene - I will also make the switch. I have been using MobileMe since the beginning and I love how it can keep contacts, schedule, email, photos, video and iTunes sync'd with my laptop, iPad and iPhone within seconds. The integration is pretty remarkable.
Wow, I can't believe you require to use mifi so that you can continue to use iPhone.
Andrzej - The Verizon mifi is a great work around since our AT&T coverage is so weak. I also use the mifi on an iPad and laptop...our Verizon coverage for cell phone and 3G here is pretty outstanding for such a small community.
I'll stay with ATT - have a family plan, numerous phones, etc. Fortunately, coverage is fine. Not perfect, but fine enough.
I purposely haven't upgraded to the new iPhone 4 waiting to see if Verizon would get it in early 2011. Keeping my fingers crossed as I will switch, I'm tired off all the dropped calls.

Patrick - Since you have good AT&T coverage I can certainly understand why you would stay.
Todd - You and I are in the same boat.
Just heard from a Verizon friend that LTE is about to hit Central Ohio which leads me to believe that a Verizon iPhone is very close. The increased bandwidth / speed will be ideal for a new iPhone.
The Verizon iPhone will be about more than just improved coverage and fewer dropped calls over ATT, it will be a 4g device. Being in the DC area, where I believe 4g went/goes live this week, that is huge. I have been a hold out for the phone to come to Verizon, however, now that the wait approaches an end the Droid seems pretty compelling. As an Apple junkie is hard to resist though.
Colin - I have been hearing tons about Verizon LTE. Columbus was a test market for it so it will be very exciting for this to happen on the new Verizon iPhone. I also have a strong feeling that the iPad gen II will have an option for Verizon broadband built right into the unit. Exciting time ahead for everyone except AT&T. You mentioned the Droid and the one that looks the most desirable to me is the Droid Pro but I am an avid Apple user so I am hanging in there for another month for the announcement.
Personally, I've been waiting for this in great anticipation. I'll stay with AT&T and believe that many of AT&T's woes will be solved when the unhappy iPhone users move to Verizon. A lighter load on the ATT network should help dramatically.
Ryan - In my market AT&T doesn't even offer 3G coverage...we only have "Edge" if you can imagine that.
Wow, Sam. When I go to my lakehouse, all I have is 3G and it drives me absolutely batty. I can't imagine dealing with that daily.
Ryan - I bought a Verizon mifi to feed the iPhone a true 3G broadband signal because I can't deal with the AT&T Edge network...it is THAT slow.
That's a great solution, Sam. I've considered the mifi also. Having access for all of my devices on the go appeals to me. Do you connect more than one device to yours?
Ryan - Yes, I generally run 2 devices off of it at once. It is a nifty little device. I had considered getting a cell phone that had the wifi broadcast feature but figured the device would go dead long before 4 hours and then I would be without a phone. Mifi ended up being the best overall solution and I can recharge it by plugging it into my USB on my computer or plugging in into any electrical outlet.
I am really enjoying this conversation, as I was going to run out and buy myself an IPad for Christmas and couldn't decide between Verizon & Apple, but based on your comments it looks as if Verizon would be the better fit, and it may behoove me to wait for the next generation, if I can stand the wait! We also have a 2nd home in the mountains of NC and ATT doesn't know that area exists! Can I use the mifi in place of my Novatel card for my laptop?
Beth - I don't think it matters if you buy from Verizon or Apple directly because the wifi only iPad doesn't have built in broadband. Also, we added two more iPads this month even though there will more than likely be another iPad model coming out in 2011.
The mifi 2200 can easily replace a Novatel card and it can be plugged into your laptop using the USB cable or you can plug it into a power outlet and it will provide a wifi signal to as many as 5 devices at once. You can also use it fully wirelessly without it being plugged into power or without a USB connection. One last minor clarification that I feel is important is that when you have your Mifi plugged into your computer using the USB it will not produce a wifi signal but it will recharge the battery which is VERY handy.

Sam, this is some great info. I'm curious about a couple of things on the mifi. First, how long does a charge typically last when using broadcasting the wifi signal? Secondly, how long does it take to recharge via USB? And third, how does the connection speed compare to a typical wifi signal?
Thanks for sharing!
