A Harding College (now Harding University) yearbook from 1948 has been rediscovered and I'm borrowing some pictures for this blog.  First is an aerial view of the school.  For fun perhaps you can find the following structures in the aerial viewI graduated from Harding with a degree in Art so I know that the President's house was turned into an Art gallery.  My own student exhibit was displayed there so I recognize it in the picture below.

This house is the President's home.

This one belonged to the Dean.

This one is the boy's dormitory.  How things have changed!

I'm soooo glad you have those pictures of Dr. Benson's home and Dean Sear's home.

Don, or Barbara:  please put names to the buildings.  I was never good at looking at something from above .  (like in an airplane looking down).  thanks.

Barbara, Great post.

I have several friends that are Harding grads. Searcy is good for Harding and Harding is good for Searcy. Sweet!

Anita, I'm going to let Don do the fancy stuff like labeling the aerial.  I'm putting up another one tomorrow so perhaps he can wait and do them all at the same time.

Charles, you put it nicely.  Harding is good for Searcy and Searcy is good for Harding.  Thanks!

Barbara, I love the Dean's house! And even if I have never step foot in Searcy I have such fun reading about your wonderful city and its past. Thank you for the tour!

Godmother,

Did that 1948 yearbook have any comments and best wishes from other students in it. My yearbook was written in. Was the school named after President Harding?

Andrea, when posting that picture I asked myself, "Would the English people have demolished this house?  Probably not.  It was lovely and I wish it were still around."

Godson Nutsy, the book had no little funny wishes for the future.  Too bad.  Perhaps I should add some?

Pretty amazing old photos.  The 1st two photos could be in DC - looks just like some we showed last week.

Pseudo Godmother,

I am thinking that your organizational skills are pretty good to be able to find your yearbook from that far back? I cannot find mine and I was in squirrel U only three years ago.

Godmother,

I divorce myself and the boss from my cousin's remarks above. We know that you were not even borned yet when that annual came out. Wheat is a great talent but sometimes his brain is behind his verse. He is not as bright as us.

James, I do like the old photos.  I guess it's a sign of getting old.....

Wheatflakes, that is not my yearbook.  I rescued it from sure fire and brimstone death.

Nutsy, Wheat is just a flake.  He's so jealous of my relationship with you.  He is probably planning ways to rid you of your rightful inheritance when I kick the bucket.

Godmother,

Wheat is very nice, just a bit scrambled in the brain from all of his rock star drugs. He is not violent.
