Yesterday's blog had views of Harding College in 1948 (now Harding University).  Here are a few more views that were in the yearbook followed by the aerial view again.  See if you can find the buildings on the aerial view if you'd like.  The pictures show a great love of shade trees and prior to our love for manicured lawns.

This one is was called the Bell home.

Here is the swimming pool for boys at  the college.  Wonder if they had a swimming pool for girls?

I love these views of all the old properties.  I've never been to Searcy, yet I feel as though I know it, through your images.  Thank you.

Alan Elvis, you're so nice!  Thanks for stopping by my blog and making a nice comment about our town!  You're one class act on Activerain.

1948 was just a few years before they tore down Godden Hall (the big reverse-C shaped building in the center of the aerial, although I'm sure you know it). I think the only buildings left from that time period are Pattie-Cobb Hall and the Olen-Hendrix, which both seem to be on the aerial view. The "gym" building dates back to Galloway; I've seen it in some photos from those days. I think that swimming pool does as well - a 1908 map I have calls it the "natatorium."

If you do not check in I am afraid that you have checked out. Wheat and I are on our way.

Russel, that cat looks so much like my cat that ate Charlie's Raven that I want to cry.  Can you ship him to me as a Christmas gift?  Happy Holidays to you!

Beloved Godson Nutsy, I was besieged by guests.  I was held captive by hungry people.  My blog had to suffer.  So if you and that Wheat thing come here, do NOT bring an appetite with you.

P. S., Godson.  Put that bottle down!!!

I had to drink to calm my nerves at your absence.

Hey, Nutsy!  Nice new outfit.  I like that!  And you do not appear to be drinking.  You didn't hide booze in those arrows, did you?  : (
