Algiers Point
Algiers Point is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans (the French Quarter being the oldest). Tucked into the bend of the Mississippi River, it is the only portion of the City of New Orleans located on the West Bank of the river. There is quick and convenient access to downtown and the French Quarter via the Canal St/Algiers Ferry.
The Point is home to many locally owned businesses such as the Rosetree Blown Glass Studio and Gallery, Aunt Lenie's Café & Market, Crown and Anchor English Pub, Old Point Bar and Dry Dock Bar & Café. There are also several bed & breakfasts located in the area when you are ready for a quiet weekend getaway without the hustle and bustle of downtown New Orleans.
