The Plants Finally Won

We were enjoying the afternoon today in historical downtown Calvert Texas visiting the antique and craft shops. It appears this this lonely building on a street corner has finally lost out to mother nature..

Here are some other views along the main drag on Hwy 6

Calvert is a short drive north of Bryan-College Station and is a good spot to visit if you are on a "staycation or just passing through. There are several quaint little shops to enjoy a sandwich or a gourmet meal and to shop for gifts, antiques or handcrafted furniture.  There are many beautiful Victorian antique homes in Calvert.

Hi Trey... what a quaint and charming looking town.  I hate that the downtown district looks so empty!

Trey- I love the pic of the building overrun by the vine.  It doesn't take Ma Nature too long to reclaim what we've taken from her!  Gig 'Em!

Hi Trey,

Your first b/w photo is an interesting shot. The 3rd one of store fronts almost looks like an old movie set.

Joan.....It is a very nice little town and is ever so slowly reviviing in a tough economy.

Ricki...Maybe an early stages Fredricksburg?

Larry ...you gave me a belly laugh sir!

Bill ...inside eating, shopping,  and sanding behind the camera.

Steve ..It is a history rich area and was the cotton capitol of Texas at one time.

Trey, Most of your pictures look like you stepped back in time. The town certainly has charm.  I also like the picture of the building covered in vines.
