How Home Staging can Help when Breaking Up is Hard to Do

I love, love, love Neil Sedaka.  What a great way to start off the day.  I'm off to my friend's mother's funeral and this song may bring joy into my heart, as her mother loved Neil Sedaka.  What a neat find.  And, what an great rebog.  Home staging might be just the ticket when home buyers are having pangs about their sale or leaving their home.  Great ideas. :)

How Home Staging can Help when Breaking Up is Hard to Do...

Unless you've lived in your home for a very short period, putting it on the market can bring up a whole lot of emotional ups and downs.  You may feel excited about the possibilities that have brought about this move, yet there may also be a kind of reluctance to let go of this place that's been your home.

Maybe it's from watching too many movies too intently, but when I get to these kinds of emotional events, I've got a soundtrack running in my head. In this case,  the Neil Sedaka song, "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" just plays on a loop.

So how can a good home stager help?  By creating a plan that:

  1. Enables you to understand and honor the elements that make your home the  unique sanctuary it's been for you - AND
  2. Gradually morph your home into a house that appeals to many buyers - WHILE
  3. Planning ahead to pack away the things you'll take to your new place - WHERE
  4. You'll create a home that's a unique sanctuary for you and your family.

Home staging will definitely help with the "here and now" tasks of pre-packing, de-cluttering, and creating an appealing and inviting look for buyers. But a good home stager will also go the extra mile to help you deal with what feels like a dismantling of your life and help you look forward to making your next house into your uniquely warm, cozy sanctuary.

And, quite possibly, provide a fun soundtrack for the duration.  New Morning by Bob Dylan, anyone?

Great re-blog Gail.  The emotional impact of selling is HUGE and the main reason why I love helping people prepare their homes for sale.

I'll be thinking of you on this sad day - I started A New Challenge, you might want to check it out!
