Every year, the FBI ranks the safest as well as the most dangerous cities in America based on a variety of crime data.  This year, Ventura County cities Simi Valley (#15) and Thousand Oaks (#17) have ranked in the top 20 safest cities in America. 

Once upon a time (not too long ago), these same two cities often ranked in the top five safest cities, however, with new cities and areas making it on the list every year, it has become harder and harder for these two cities to maintain their spots in the top five. 

Below is the list of the top 50 safest cities in America.  You can view the entire list at 2010 City Crime Rate Rankings  (the list is ranked most dangerous to safest, so the safest are at the bottom of the list).

Simon - I know, I get so tired of hearing how bad it is to live here and while I won't deny that we do have some issues here in Cali but we do have some redeeming qualities too.

Kathy - As a Simi Valley resident for nearly 15yrs now, I love it here and feel so absolutely safe here too.

Donne - Happy to be in a county with two of the safest cities. Moorpark used to be on here. I am actually surprised to see that a few others are not on here. I don't know how the numbers are calculated other than the Census Bureau.

Ken - the nujmbers are actually calculated from the FBI crime data and stats.  I actually don't recall Moorpark ever being on the list though.  Thx for stopping by Ken; I really appreciate it.
