With a little help from my friends...

I love baseball in the summer. Sitting in the stands with a baseball mitt in one hand and a handful of peanuts in the other, watching your favorite team hoping for a fly ball to come your way. Its getting closer to the end of the season and many are hoping for a Cub World Series. I know, I know its been a long time, but if your going to dream make it a good one.

The Cubs have started auditions for the biggest Cubs fan and Pete Mastro from Carol Stream and my friend Caryn's cousin auditioned. With over 2000 applicants to sing "Take me out to the ballgame" during the 7^th inning stretch, Pete made the top 10. Pete Mastro has been a Cubs fan since the 60's, and is a VERY loyal fan. As you know to be a Cub fan all these years takes patience and loyalty. cubs He is the Cubs biggest fan in my book. Pete would make Harry Cary proud, just as Dutchie Cary is impressed in his interview. Take a look!

Regardless of your favorite team please place a vote for Pete to sing during the 7^th inning stretch on September 22, 2007. Please help make a dream come true!

As a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan I have had my share of "losing" season by my team and the extreme "Oh my God they're going to the World Series!" joys intermingled within the sadness. One dream I have for this year is for the Cubs to go to the World Series. (Cubs fans are like Tigers fans, they love the game and have a true passion for their team.) I didn't mean to write a novel, sorry. I will definately go and vote for Pete! Please let us know how it ends up.

Kim - Pete has my vote (just voted). Maybe we will get a World Series again in Chicago. Hopefully the Cubbies will do it this year. I went to a few games this year and the Cubs won 2 of them. That would be great if Pete wins.

I wonder why Steve Bartman was not participating in the contest?

Chuck - Thanks for your support for Pete! I am hopeful for the Cubbies this year, my Grandma and Harry Cary will celebrate together. You had me cracking up about Steve Bartman....maybe he's a SOX fan now?!? ;o)
