Trump Tower Waikiki

Artist's rendering I just got back from the Trump Tower Waikiki selection on it's first day of a two day unit selection and they are practically sold out.  When I left the Halekulani Hotel at around 6:45pm this evening, there were about six units left for sale and those were in the $2.5 million range.  Unit selection started at 11:00am this morning and my client's selection time was at 6:30pm.  By the time I got there, at around 5:15pm, almost everything was gone.  We couldn't beleive it.  Sold out in less than 10 hours.  My clients didn't want the higher priced units so we just put ourselves in a back up position.  I didn't expect it to sell out so quickly and kind of felt bad for the people who had selection times tomorrow.  That's just the way the ball bounces I guess.

Prices were between $445,000 and $4.5 million yet some buyers bought multiple units.  Trump International Hotel and Tower is going to be a 462-unit luxury hotel-condominium with concierge, spa, infinity pool and more in a great part of Waikiki.  The whole area around it is being redeveloped in what is being called Waikiki's biggest redevelpement in history.  It's supposed to be a new leisure destination with excitement and energy yet a place where one can relax and live with the beach and park right across the street.

I think it's a great project for the Waikiki neighborhood and can't wait to see it when it is completed in 2009.  Please go to http://www.trumpwaikikihotel.com/ for more information.

Kengo that place seems pretty awesome to me.  What is it like inside?  Does it have Las Vegas written all over it?  Or is it unique?

Are they planning to put a casino in there?  Are they allowed to?

Hi Kengo, I'm on now.  Thanks!!!  I heard the Trump Tower sales were  crazy.  Today's local news said that the quick sales was a record.  They were selling at about 30 units per hour and total sales could run at about $700 milion.  All I can say is wow.

Jennifer, I believe the interior will have some Hawaiian influences with koa wood but mixed in with all that Vegas glam.  A kind of tropical contemporary decor.

Tony.....I wish!!!  No legalized gambling here yet.  Hawaii's other island is Las Vegs.  Hawaii people love to gamble and go there often.  Almost everytime I go there, I run into someone I know from Hawaii.

Good to see you got here ok Nana!!!  You'll learn a lot here and have fun here.  See you!!!

Kengo, do you know anything about the Ilikai hotel?  Seems to have a better location than Trump's, and pricing is better.  People who missed out on Trump can check out the Ilikai, do you think that would be a good buy?  Thanks for your input.  Enjoy your blog.

Great post Kengo.  Yeah it was crazy huh!!!  For the person above.  The location for the Ilikai to me is by far better than Trump but it's not Trump in any way.  Trump, Trumps the Ilikai.  LOL!

Last I looked there were still a couple penthouses left here at the already under construction Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, and out our window I can see it's up to about 15 stories (though that leaves them with 75 or so to go, and that's just the concrete work).  It's his first Chicago venture and despite that TV show thing that his "head" project manager got picked from, it's not yet fully sold, though initial investors have in some cases doubled their money.

Hey Gabriel, thanks for the info.  You said that initial investors have in some cases doubled their money already?  When did sales start there?  Is your market still going that strong?  What was the lowest and highest priced unit going for?  I could probably answer my own questions by googling it. Thanks for the comment!!!

This sounds like a project I worked on here in Oregon.  A brand new destination, it took us 1 1/2 days to sell 206 lots, but that was during a holiday season.

Good luck, I hope your client gets something.

My fiance and I are semi-retired and thinking about investing in a unit in the Trump International Hotel & Tower Waikiki Beach Walk. We've only been told good things about the place by the realtors but would like to know the REAL story about the reputation of the Trump International Hotel as well as the reputation of the developer, Irongate. Has anyone heard of anything positive or negative about the hotel and/or Irongate? I hear there's a class action law suit in Vegas going on and frankly, we're worried that this bad press may affect our would be Waikiki investment as well. Any thoughts appreciated!
