Janie's got a gun. But should Real Estate Agents have one too? This blog was inspired by the featured blog Realtors are Packing - I Mean Handguns!. by Michael Jacobs. A survey showed that 25% of Real Estate Agents out of a survey of 240 people carried handguns-WOW! After reading the blog and doing some other research here on Active Rain of other blogs written on Realtor Safety, more people are not going to show houses just with their sentricard or combination.

While Realtor Safety Month was September 2010,I think that every month should be Realtor Safety. We should be extra careful whenever we go out and show people houses or do BPO's. Too many people are losing their homes they have worked so hard for for so many years-that is beyond painful. It is very painful to see someone lose their house or might be in the midst of losing their home. But does that mean because of what you are going through,me or my family should suffer also? I mean why would you try to take my life just because I am doing what I am supposed to do and paid to do which is my job?

When you lose anybody or anything in life -AND I MEAN ANYBODY OR ANYTHING IN LIFE VERY PRECIOUS AND VALUABLE TO YOU,it takes a lot of time to overcome the pain. While time heals wound, some people never heal completely from it. If you lost your home due to loss of job, business, divorce, health, death in the family or whatever reason,it is not the end of the world. I pray to God that I won't have to go to showings with a gun. Thinking about it alone is a little scary to be honest with you. What good is that going to do me carrying a gun to a showing? Honestly speaking it might end up doing more harm to me if anything. Homeowners are not the only ones who are enduring pain in this tough economic times,Real Estate Agents are too.

Many people think that every Licensed Real Estate Agents are rich. Really? You want to see my bank statement? I didn't think so. Why don't you ask a real estate agent you know when was the last time he closed a deal because he is waiting on Mr. Freaking Bank of America and Chase Bank just to get a SHORT SALE APPROVAL LETTER on their short sale deals? Or the Real Estate Agent who is losing some of his clients because his home buyer clients are beyond frustrated with the short sale process that they have decided that they don't want to go through with the process anymore because Short sales are taking TOO LONG. Who the heck came up with the name Short Sales anyway? There is nothing short in a real estate transaction that takes too long. Heck my children might graduate from High School before some of my deal closes (Okay! I am exagerrated a little bit. But I am sure you get the point that I am trying to make) Real Estate Agents are going through very tough problems too just in case the public didn't know. Some real estate agents have families too. Public perception has been clouded by the poison called the Media -YEAH! I SAID IT. MEDIA IS POISON!

So if you are a homeowner who have either lost their home,I am soo sorry. It is not the end of the world.  You can rebuild and start over again. And if you are in the midst of losing your home, contact a Local Prince George's County MD Real Estate Agent in your area of choice.

But please don't attack us because Real Estate Agents are not the bad guys-WE ARE GOOD GUYS TRYING TO DO OUR JOBS. Well! Some of us are. The ones who have 100 listings because they have an inside connection with the banks and can't freaking service their listings are the ones messing it up for everybody else. I wish banks who give these listings out to these real estate agents know what kind of donkey some of these listing real estate agents are. We are doing our best to help people buy and sell their homes. BANKS? If I say what I think about the banks,I will probably be on America's Most Wanted List. These banks are playing with people's life whether these f%$#@@$ people want to admit it or not.

Oh by the way,I am sure some of you are wondering where did he come up with the title"Janie's Got a Gun. But should Real Estate Agents have one too. Here is the muse for my title. ENJOY!

Great song, I actually saw Aerosmith at Madison Square Garden a long time ago, 2nd row and it was unreal. Anyway, I didn't realize how many agents carry guns and its just a shame that our business had become so dangerous that it's come down to that.

Lanre: I sense some frustration there. Hope everything is going well for you. agents are pretty safe in Iowa but I feel the real danger comes from banditos, not homesteaders in these parts. For now, I remain gunless. Best,

Lanre ~  This is a very powerful post.  I agree with you -- no guns for me; not ever.  The reasons are numerous, my friend.  Blessings to you and your family during this coming Season.

It's scary, but I've been told by friends, family and Real Estate Agents that I should carry a gun.  I'm such a klutz, I don't really want to have one in my possession.  But I have been in some really bad areas before.

Ok, lets talk about guns. I live in AZ an open carry state. Do you realize that every prison is full. They let people out daily because of overcrowding. 25% of our population has a mental illness. I live in a great community but police response times are 12 minutes. My wifes family lives in NJ. They would have a 15-20 minute response time. When seconds count, police are on minutes away! I run a gun group in AZ because I met a client in his home 3 years ago. We were discussing his home owners policy. I noticed a gun holster and asked him what I need to protect because gun coverage is minimal on all insurance policies. He showed off by showing me an uzi with a silencer. By the way this was a felony without paperwork. 10 years in prison!
