We've been here long enough to know the difference.  Sure we have.

I just saw a comment that was left that said "Great Blog!"... and I've seen many of those left before.

So, of course they meant that the liked the entire body of content that this particular blogger had left... or did they mean just that post?

ACTIVE RAIN BLOGGING LESSON #2,746:

a BLOG is the entire body of work of an individual writer... it's a contraction of the words weB LOG  (get it?  weB LOG??  weBLOG???  BLOG!??!??).

a POST is merely one article, or one story on that blog...   one story that contributes to the larger body of work.

___________________

C'mon... say it with me.

A BLOG is the entire body of work.... a POST is merely one article.

A BLOG is the entire body of work.... a POST is merely one article.   Nicely done, thank you!

So, when you comment, you really want to say "Great POST!"...

(hey, is there any Pumpkin Pie left over there?!)

No pumpkins were harmed during the writing of this POST.

Unless by "harmed" you mean sliced open, had their guts removed, rendered down to a mushy substance reminiscent of what's found in an ailing baby's diaper, poured into a pie crust, and put in the over for 45minutes to an hour at 350°, and then cooled off, sliced into sections and eaten ravenously. And then, if that's what you mean, yes... some pumpkins were harmed.

Alan:  One way I try to use to eplain it is that a post in a blog is like an entry in a journal or diary.  The entry is the post... and the blog is the journal or diary.

One more thing:  I have read and re-read Andrew's comment #2... and am wondering if it might make more sense to me... if I read it backwards.  Just wonderin'...

I'm not sure... but is the weather up in Maine freezing... already ?  Maybe some hot cocoa would help ?

James - anytime.

Karen Anne - that's a perfect explanation.  I think if you read every other word of Andrew's comment and multiply time three, it makes total sense.

Alan,

To many times I find that many people simple write great blog and never really read the "post".  Actually we have been harming pumpkins all week by having pumpkin crunch.

Alan, and Elizabeth in #40:  Back to Andrew in #2.  I felt like I was reading it from some sort of parallel uiverse.  So, it wasn't just me, then ?

@ Cindy in #10:  I think in the interests of equality on this wonderful day, if we are going to have a whole "she-bang"... should we not also have a whole "he-bang" as well?  Fair is fair, right ?

Have a Great Thanksgiving !

OK Alan, great BLOG. I mean, the whole body of work, daily like a master including Elvis and all the military photos. I don't know how you do it, but great blog.

I guess this post is OK too.

"GREAT POST". It is kind of funny that this is something very fundamental but some folks don't quite get it yet, but I think it is also encouraging that they are working on it.
