INSPIRATION FOR TODAY:
"Look to your health... and value it next to a good conscience;
for health is... a blessing that money cannot buy." ~ Izaak Walton

CHECK THE FUEL LEVELS!

Are you on the fast track? Or maybe in the fast lane? You manage your time well, you accomplish a dazzling number of feats each day, and keep yourself busy from dawn 'til dusk. Maybe you're so busy that you have to save time by neglecting physical exercise or grabbing fast food several times a week.

Imagine if you were driving around town every day, and decided to save time by never stopping to fill up the gas tank. How much time and money would it save you then, when the car breaks down and you have to walk to work?

You need fuel and maintenance in much the same way, and you'll find that developing healthy habits is worth the time you put into them. You'll increase your energy, your performance, and your satisfaction, simply by exercising and eating better food.

Strangely enough, people who are not as active in their careers have less of an opportunity to develop those good habits than those burning the candle at both ends. If you're stalled at work or in your personal life, you can lose the drive and ambition to take better care of yourself.

However, if you're already devoting tons of energy to your career and personal pursuits, you already have the qualities and time and energy available that are needed to make the change. You just need to rearrange your "energy budget" to put more of it into daily walks and simply prepared good food.

If you must travel in the fast lane, take the proper precautions to avoid a break down!

It is hard to find the time and energy to take time for ourselves but ultimately the right thing.

Sandy - We all know that this is the right thing to do, and yet I bet many of us don't follow this plan.  I love the gas in the car analogy.  I'm going to bookmark this as a reminder of what to do.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice post Sandy. We all can get wrapped up into our careers and forget about the important things.... I have four of them at home!

Sandy, I appreciate the reminder.  Why do I need reminders?  Don't know, but I sure do!

Don - Thanks for your comments.  I'm learning I need to allow myself more down time!  It's tough.

Adam - You're welcome!  Thanks for reading and commenting.  It's tough to remember to put yourself on the list of people to take care of.

Joe - I hear you, although one of the reasons I went into RE was so I could be home for my kids.  So they get a lot of my time, now I have to learn to allow myself me time!  Thanks for commenting.

Mike - My pleasure!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Sandy,
As difficult as it is to carve out time for ourselves, we must.  How can we be at our best for our clients if we are not in tip top shape?

Cynthia - Thanks for commenting.  You are absolutely right!  Many of us are parents as well as trying to be at the top of our game with our clients.  We need a little down time every now and again!

Sandy, great reminder that I continually need to hear. There will always be someone to make demands on my time...IF I LET THEM....I need to refuel, recharge to go on. Thanks!

Great entry, Sandy!
Yah, it's so easy to take care of everyone else around you, but so hard to make the effort and time to take care our ownselves.
Thanks for wishing me luck in my real estate career.
I'm sure Keller Williams is an awesome company to work for. In fact, one of my friends in Austin, talks about how great it is.
I bid you good health!
