17 Comments on A day of thanks and reflection. Looking back, I have an awful lot to be thankful for.
Thanks for sharing your memories Richard.
Before the advent of airline travel many families in our generation did visit all under one roof and also lived in close proximity. I have a big family 53 first cousins. We alternated one weekend at each set of grandparents. So I can also relate to the noise level and the moment of silence for prayer and the aroma of turkey cooking. Grateful for family
May you continue to propser in your profession

wonderful post Richard, why is it we don't realize the monumental efforts of our parents until we get older....
Richard ~ Thank you for sharing your memories with all of us. Now I am remembering back to my own and how much fun it was when I was the kid and all the adults were preparing the feast.
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving Day with your family.
Richard, Certainly a big family! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Richard..We have a realatively small group...15 this year. But if the truth be known...3-4 would not break my heart.
It is 9 above and 10 below windchill. If I get a chance and a bunch of the company takes a nap..I am going to sneak out into the woods at dusk. Mr. big is still calling and Archery season is still on.
Happy Thanksgiving!
With just 36 days left in 2010, Zoey the Cool Cat and I just wanted to stop by and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Hope it’s a great one, with lots of fun and food with family and friends!
Good morning Richard,
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you enjoy the Holiday and isn't it fun to reminisce of earlier times! It's always good to relive those positive memories!!
Richard,
9 in my family, and my father was the oldest in a large family. Thanksgiving was great, and the more the merrier!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Richard: Indeed, those days of years ago... We to had some amazingly large get together's. I remember well having to setup three tables. One for the adults, one for the big kids, and one for the small ones. I felt so proud when I made it to the big kids table! Have a great Thanksgiving holiday...
Richard: I don't think I adequately appreciated the Thanksgivings of my youth when all the cousins, aunts and uncles were around. Even my grandmother would be there. Now, we have partial family gatherings. It's not the same. It's good, but it's not the way they used to be. Hope you had a good one!
Richard - I found you in the photo ... that was fun. We went to Grandmas house almost every Sunday for dinner. She brought out her fine china and it is something I will never forget. Today we only had 3 of us as well ... more coming on Saturday because of distance and Black Friday. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, albeit a quiet one.
It is such a great day to reflect on our many blessings today and everyday. Hope you had a wonderful day.
