Photoshop Homes for Sale? How Much is Too Much?

By
Real Estate Agent with CENTURY 21 Beal, Inc.

susansmallsusansmallavatarHow Photoshop is too much? How much 'cleaning up' and 'lighting' and 'enhancing' of photos on listings and agents is acceptable? Of course the seller wants the house to shine but how much is too much? Is it ok to...

  • Green up the grass
  • Add a little landscaping
  • Add water to the pond
  • Touchup the paint
  • Remove a power line
  • Remove a water tower in the background

How much is too much? Yes, I have seen all the above! Remember someone who is good with Photoshop can do just about anything - good or bad! Make sure that the Realtor who represents YOU gives you all the information you need. Don't just rely on photos from the web. Susan Hilton College Station Real Estate

Susan- I admit I've greened the grass, blued the sky but removing/adding... too much.  BTW- blue is a good color on you.

Without a disclaimer I wouldn't add or remove anything.  Enhance yes, but there are limits there too Susan.  I'm glad to see you were unable to improve on that smile, it's a great one already!

I agree with you on the "adding" and "removing"!  Thanks for the blue comment. I thought it was fun.

I generally only enhance the lighting.  We have a difficult time in Hawaii shooting interior shots because bright sunlight coming in the windows makes the rooms photograph darker.   I love the blue and the ears, you are obviously much better at photoshop than I am.

Removing anything it too much. Removing a water tower is just plain misrepresentation of the worst kind.
