By

There are many opinions about what we should expect to happen over the next 5 years in Bryan College Station regarding real estate, development, investment properties as well as overall general growth. They may not all agree on the details but they all seem to agree that growth is coming and so are the people!

In addition to an increase in our RGP (real gross product - output in dollars) the population is expected to increase by almost 20,000 people. Imagine another 20,000 people in our community with about 10,000 of those being workers. Imagine our community having 235,000 people. We will need more road, electricity, houses, restaurants....

We have enjoyed avoiding the significant national downturn like the rest of the country. Yes, we have seen a decrease in real estate but nothing like the rest of the country. Texas' economic performance has been higher than the national economy. Why?

  • no state income tax
  • low cost of living
  • overall low taxes
  • large workforce

Texas continues to expand jobs in almost all industries. 24 of Texas' 26 metropolitan areas experienced "positive employment growth. Only one area had a net job loss! Glad we don't live in Wichita Falls...

Remember Texas continues to rank high by national organizations as a top state for development and the place to live. Bryan College Station and Texas A&M have been recognized as one of the top areas too! Texas A&M is one of the favorite schools for companies to visit to recruit new employees too. Since 2008, 70% of all net jobs in the US have been created in Texas according to Ray Perryman, Economist. Even though the job market is tough here, can you imagine if you lived in other areas?
