Antebellum Mansion Detail

Hope you all had a fabulous day of merriment good food ( physical nutrition) and good times with friends and family yesterday!  Here is an idea for some mental nutrition!

Ron and I finished reading a wonderful book by one of our favority authors, Pat Conroy.  You may remember his earlier novels, The Great Santini and The Prince of Tides, both of which were made into movies.  After a 14 year hiatus, his new novel is  South on Broad.

Set in Charleston, South Carolina, it is a must read for any luxury real estate marketing professional looking to improve the description of their marketplace.  By the first page, we felt the urge to visit, and it took all of 3 sentences to do it.  Throughout the book, the feel of the city, the antebellum mansions, and the gardens's description make you want to book a flight to Charleston.

The story itself is well written and riveting.  Neither one of us could stop reading it.  It made us think, reflect, and laugh, and we could not wait to tell you about it.   If you are not a reader, give it as gift to someone who loves a good story!  Happy Friday!

Faina,

Me too, I am always reading something or other.  Please feel free to suggest any delightful books you have read, and I am going shopping on line for another one to download.  That is so much better than being in the midst of all the holiday shoppers.  A

Kevin,

So glad to have been of help to you.  I hope that individual enjoys it as much as we did.  A well written story with a viable plot is a joy to read.  Hope you a great Thanksgiving, and are enjoying your weekend.  It is wonderful to have this time to catch up and just lollygag for a change, before revving up again this Monday.  A

It is a fascinating but great tip to use the creative descriptions that celebrated authors use when thinking of words to describe a special listing. So often, our brains turn to the same words "open, light-filled, granite, stainless... " and perhaps we could be motivated to seek out better adjectives if we think like an author and not a Realtor when we write the descriptive pieces. Cool!

Ellie,

Thank you for your great perspective.  Authors romance a place and Pat Conroy is a master at that.  Wishing you a wonderful holiday. A

Ron & Alexandra,

Sounds like a prudent recommendation.  The South is full of sensory stimuli that causes visceral responses!  Thanks for the mental nutrition treatment... g
