This morning we were up at 4:30 and headed out the door at 5:30 to brave the masses on Black Friday. We were headed to Staples first.
I'm really not much for shopping. But, I do head out on Black Friday, as I know this is the time of year that I can get my electronics, printers and Antivirus protection for my computer at good prices.
This year the biggest thing on my wish list was a camera. I wanted one that was a step up from the one that I use to take my blogging pictures; a camera that would give me better quality indoor and night pictures.
As we were waiting in line for Staples to open at 6:00 AM we met two great guys, Geno and Andrew. They said they had a long night. They got in line at Target at 6:00 PM the night before to grab a 40" inch HDTV on sale for $298. That was a $250 savings! Well, it seems there were a number of other people that had the same idea. I believe one of them was a lady that nearly threw her shopping cart and hit Geno. Apparently, it wasn't a pretty sight. They got their TV and headed to Wal Mart to stand in line for a 5:00 sale. That was another mob scene from what they said.
Once we got in to Staples, we got a new office chair for $70 off, an all in one printer, scanner, copier and fax for $120 off, 4GB SDHC cards for $7.99 each, Norton Antivirus Protection and a Universal Remote Control for free. I really like Staples on Black Friday. They are so organized and I have always been able to get what I set out to buy there.
When we arrived at Wal Mart just after 7:00, it seemed like a ghost town. The crowd was gone. At one point it seemed as if there was only one other customer in the store with us. There were 4 cashiers with no lines, asking if they could help us check out. They said the crowd had been there from 3:00 - 6:30 AM. We were able to grab the last Nikon camera they had at an $80 savings and I was tickled.
At one point in the day, we stopped at home to drop our purchases off, so we didn't have a van full of goodies.
The rest of the day we hit several other stores to grab some miscellaneous odds and ends and to have some fun. The only real mob we ran into was in Sears. The lines were long, but they moved quickly.
We got home at 4:00 and I have to say I was really beat. We got everything that we went out to get. It was a great day and now I'm going to put in a movie and head to bed early.
