The Tanner Historic District is one of the largest historic districts on Aurora's west side. Created as a locally designated historic district in 1998, it is located just west of Lake Street and includes homes dating from the mid-1800's into the 20th Century. This district is always expanding, adding areas gradually - the last being parts of Oak Street in October of 2006. The Aurora Tanner Historic District includes a variety of home styles, from Victorian to Bungalow, Italiante to Queen Anne. The boundaries and streets of this historic district are marked with informational signs located on the street corners. Beautiful! Some of those homes in your district look like some of the ones we have in another one of our districts - called the Westside Historic District. Lots of Italiante and Second Empire homes. I love the historic districts - so much character.
