The Farmers Market Scene in Sarasota
The Farmers Market is a popular downtown Sarasota tradition, occurring every Saturday from 7am-12 noon. Established in 1979, the street market has well over fifty vendors who peddle produce, plants and flowers. The are local artisans selling their wares aa well as live cooking exhibitions.
Two other Farmers Markets have been established in the Sarasota area. On Sunday mornings, from 8am-1pm, the north Siesta Key Village offers raw foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh-baked pastries and breads, flowers, cheeses, coffees and more as well as music and entertainment. The market runs whether rain or shine.
The newest Farmers Market is located at Phillippi Creek Estates Park, on South Tamiami Trail. The market is open on Wednesdays, 9am-2pm and runs until April. Local growers of produce, organic and hydroponic plants and other garden delicacies.
