As a Real Estate Agent, I hear this question a lot.... there is always to much mis information in the media...as real estate is truly regional... What I mean is....one city may be struggling in home sales, while another may not be. It is best not to listen to the news about the market...it is always best to speak to a professional, who has first hand knowledge of the area in which you live...or the area where you want to purchase a homes.
Here are the real estate statistics for Haymarket, Virginia as of October 2010 as reported by "Real Estate Business Intelligence, LLC, an MRIS company"
As compared to 2009:
*The average volume in sales has increased by 17.54%
*The average sold price has increased by 25.94%
*The total units sold has, however, decreased by 6.67%
*Days on Market (DOM) has increased by 5.26%
*The average list price has increased by 26.11%
In summary: the price of homes has increased, they are staying on the market a little longer, yet fewer homes have sold... there it is...the world according to me. :)
