Every year, the Bristow, Virginia community of Braemar hosts a holiday lights contests for its residents. I'm already seeing the lights and wreaths going up on houses. If you haven't started, you may want to take this weekend to get going.
The Braemar Holiday Lights contest will be judged this year on December 11th & 12th. I know that may seem yearly, but there's a method to the madness.
Braemar announces the winners at the Braemar Holiday Party, scheduled this year (2010) for Friday, December 16th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Santa will be there if your kids would like to snap a photo with him. There will also be hayrides within the community, but starting from the Iona Sound Clubhouse.
So get those holiday decorations up. This is the first year that the Braemar sub-associations are not giving prizes in particular categories, but simply picking their two favorite homes in each sub-association. Go with whatever holiday theme you like.
As a judge for Tartan Hill Village, I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your hard work.
