I got an email from a colleague last week. It was about 1600 words, all condensed, no spaces, just mashed together in a weird ransom note sort of way. He wanted to sell me something.... 800 rooms, a hotel or apartment building of sorts... It was confusing, and I did not finish reading it.
This is not the way to inform your customer base -- but it is a good way to befuddle them and send them scampering off in the opposite direction.
USE A VARIETY OF WEBSITES TO GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS
Websites come in different varieties lately. There are many different types to choose from when you want to really communicate to your audience. This is something the phone companies have yet to understand. Just putting your name and phone number on a webpage is not enough to get the phone to ring....
Consider the following....
1. Video Website, (testimonials, unscripted testimonials from excited customers)
2. Brochure Website (that spells out what you do in a simply way)
3. Blog News Website, (there are plenty of templates to choose from in this category)
4. Community News Website - Blog, (Some of these come with advertising space you can sell each month)
There are plenty of ways to become a news source. Don't just randomly throw up on your prospects with a "jealous girlfriend letter". Use paragraphs for crying out loud and speak your mind.
Avoid language that will get you thrown into the spam box.....
Such as:
1. Mortgages
2. FREE
3. Chance of a Lifetime
4. Opportunity
5. GIFT
6. Wait Theres More....
** I was surprised recently to see the word Mortgage and phrases surrounded with it can get you thrown into the spam folder. It appears that the word Mortgage has been considered a junk word so be careful when you use it in your email promotions. This is due to all of the mortgage fraud in recent months.
