The parade started at the Markham Village Community Centre located on the southeast corner of Highway 7 and Main Street Markham.  The parade proceded north on Main Street Markham and ended at the Markham Museum on Main Street Markham just north of 16th Avenue.

At the lead of the Markham Santa Claus Parade was The Official Town Crier for the Town of Markham, Mr. John Webster.  John Webster was appointed as Official Town Crier in 1987 and has held this position ever since that time.

John Webster has participated in many town crier competitions over the years throughout Canada and internationally including the United States, England and Belgium.  He has proudly represented Markham in the competitions.  John Webster won the Los Angeles Invitational World Camptionship, won 4 world tropies in the Bermuda International Competion, held the North American Champion position for 7 consecutive years, has been Ontario provincial champion and won the Bobby Burns World Championship.  John Webster was President of the Ontario Guild of Town Criers for 5 years and was host of the 1993 World Town Crier Championships in the Town of Markham.

John was Ward 5 Councillor for the Town of Markham for 7 years (two election terms).  His second term ended in late 2010.

Hi Marc -  your Town Crier really looks the part!  Kingston has one but I think it is something Gananoqe should look into as well (note to self!)

Our town parade was last night but my photos were not good enough to publish.  The Lites at Nite theme was pretty to see but not so photo friendly.

Let the holiday games begin!

What a fun way to start the season.  Everyone does look a little colder there - I think it was 70 degrees here on the 27th!
