MLS Accessibility - and the 50% Loss Rule

It is said that most online visitors leave after reading the first page of your website. Some experts place this number up to 50%. Thats a lot of traffic. From there the numbers get divided even smaller. As the online searcher goes through your site even more people leave after seeing 2 pages or 3 pages worth of material.

What has been your experience with MLS sites? There are a lot of directories out there but they ask for so much information up front, (with multiple menus) it is hard to believe that these are succesful websites.

Forms are really tricky. Usually if you are just asking for a little bit of information like first name and email address people will fill out the form. If you are asking for more than that up front this number is a lot smaller.

How effective is this overall?

AND please.... when you answer --- I only want agents and not mega MLS directory website owners answering this post.

Andy thanks -- The sites I am referring to are usually all menus. There a series of menus divided by states and cities. They do not allow the user to even see one single property. It is like a big fence around the site that keeps the user away from the listings unless they register.

I am wondering how successful these are for the end user and the website owner?

To be a master of meeting new clients via your Realtor web presence, you must first have a thorough understanding of the difference between visitors and leads and how to convert one to the other using innovating techniques and smart language.

Good Topic. Loyalty is hard to come by. Starting on the web all the way through showings, offers and closings. Perseverence.

Patrick --- You hit the nail right on the head.
The MLS sites I am finding online has nothing on the first page but a bunch of forms. By the time the online visitor gets through this he/she can get access to the houses for sale or rent. They do not get access to anything unless they fill this out. This seems to be a bigger problem than most people realize.

Studying the web as intensely as I do I am wondering why no professional has adequately addressed this.
