West Essex kicks off tis the season with Christmas tree lightings and holiday family fun starting with:
- The lighting of Roseland's Christmas Tree and Menorah on Friday, December 3, 2010, starting at 6:30 p.m. will be at the Borough Common (corner of Eagle Rock Avenue and Harrison Avenue). Come join in the holiday family fun with the families of Roseland, Santa and his elves, the Fire Department mascot Sparky and Newark Bears Mascot Rupert;

Caldwell's Christmas tree lighting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, on the Town Green in Caldwell. Caldwell residents will welcome the arrival of Santa and his helpers singing-a-long to holiday songs;
- Verona starts the holiday season off at 2:00 p.m. with pictures with Santa on Saturday, December 4th. Followed by the lighting of Verona's Christmas tree. Although the fun with Santa doesn't start until 2:00, Verona kickoffs a day of family fun starting at 12:00 p.m.;

The lighting of West Caldwell's Christmas tree lighting will take place at the Gazebo in Crane Park on Sunday, December 5, 2010 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Don't be late because Santa is scheduled to arrive at 5:15 p.m.;
- Fairfield celebrates it 49th annual Christmas tree lighting with its residents on Sunday, Decemer 5th beginning at 4:30 p.m.at the Fairfield Recreation Complex on Hollywood Avenue. With holiday music featured by the Fairfield Recreation King and Queen and holiday musical performances by the Busy Hands class, Santa will surely be delighted when he arrives;
- North Caldwell Community Holiday Celebration, Joy, Peace and Goodwill for All Seasons will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday December 5 in the Borough Hall Municipal Parking Lot. North Caldwell residents will enjoy holiday songs at the lighting of the first candle of the Menorah and the North Caldwell Christmas tree; and
- Cedar Grove's 44th Annual Christmas Tree lighting will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010 in front of the municipal building on Pompton Avenue. The Cedar Grove High School Choir will open the Cedar Grove Christmas Tree lighting with holiday songs as they await the arrival of Santa Claus.
