If you are making your first move, or it's been a while since you've done it, here's a handy list of things to make sure you unpack first.  Of course, packing these things in one box that is marked OPEN ME FIRST is a great start to accomplishing the task.

Just the thought of moving makes my head hurt.  I look around my house and think of putting it all in boxes and a dread washes over me.  Of course, the more you do something, the better you get at it.  So here are some items you should pack in a box with the specific intent of opening first in your new home.

  1. First Aid Kit
  2. Toilet Paper
  3. Paper Towels
  4. Cell Phone Chargers
  5. Paper Plates
  6. Paper Cups
  7. Trash Bags
  8. Pet Food & Dishes
  9. Pet Bedding/Blankets
  10. Medications

If you have just these ten items, or eight assuming you have no pets, you'll have what you need to survive the first night. And please don't forget that cell phone charger.  That is key.  Unless of course you are moving somewhere with no cell phone reception.  Then it will be critical to make sure your landline service is operational before you move in.  In that case, make sure you pack a landline phone.

Thanks for the reblog, on this and the other moving post.  I very rarely have anything to write about.
