Pie? Pastry? How about a banana?

I just came from the grocery store where they have lots of pies and pastries for the holidays, but I chose a nice group of bananas. Healthy. Taste great. Inexpensive. Don't have to walk 'em off. Don't get bloated from eating them. Make good milkshakes. Zoey the Cool Cat likes to play with the banana peel....http://www.missionvalleycondos.info

Every time I see a banana, though, I can't help but think of our good friend Anna "Banana" Kruchten over in Arizona. But did you know....

Although the bananas we eat don't have seeds, there are seed-bearing bananas that grow in Southeast Asia. However, they are very small. About the size of your finger. Apparently they are semi-edible, but I have no idea what that means. Seems to me that something is either edible or it's not. If it's only semi-edible, does that mean you eat it and then spit it out? Inquiring minds want to know. Anyway....

Sometime during prehistoric times, the seedless banana came to be. Larger, easier to eat, and easier to grow. Recent archaeological evidence indicates that seedless bananas were first cultivated in Papua New Guinea around 5000 B.C. Google Maps tells us where Papua New Guinea is:

Semi-edible seems confusing as you say. I do like bananas but somehow a banana in pudding or pie seems my choice!

Hi Jim - semi-edible is funny, but with that kind of reassurance I don't think I'd try them!

Reminds me of something a girlfriend told me a long time ago.  She said she was "sort of pregnant."  I didn't get a straight answer as to what she meant by "sort of" and it turns out she was 100% pregnant with a beautiful little girl.

But, but, but...it's Christmas!  Bananas?  Really?  How about banana cream pie?  Or, how about a compromise - fried plaintains?  Please?

Hi Jim, very interesting banana facts. I enjoyed my daily banana this morning..the edible kind. I do enjoy an almost daily post from  Anna Banana as well!

Jim- eat a banana every day!  Ever notice how when you're checking out at the grocery store just about everyone has bananas in their cart.

Hi Jim - Bananas are loaded with potassium.  I eat one a day as it is an essential ingredient in my secret recipe.

For some reason, I can't stand the texture of bananas, but I love them in my morning smoothie.  I blend all the foods I don't really care for separately (bananas, strawberries and yogurt...addding some ground flax seed) and I have the breakfast of champions that I LOVE.  And I have to say, I have never gotten past the Thanksgiving holiday without being sick before.  Not a cold in sight.  It's the fruit and yogurt.  Thank God I found a way to eat them.
